Hotlink prepaid service is offering rewards such as discount vouchers, freebies and even plane tickets to encourage its subscribers to use its mobile app daily.
Maxis head of prepaid Navin Manian said the Hotlink Red app, which allows users to check their balance and top up credit, will now reward customers just for logging in.
"One of the key features of the new Hotlink Rewards is the simplicity of it. All you need to do is simply log in to Hotlink Red to earn points; no minimum spend or tenure required," he said during the launch of the programme.
Customers get five points a day when they log in, which doubles once they collect enough points to gain Gold status. Customers also get points when they top up via the app.
Navin said to get the Gold status they will have to hit 60 points, though the status along with all points will be reset at the end of each month.
Users can enjoy rewards from some 160 partners, including McDonald's, MPH bookstores, Tealive, Domino's Pizza, Expedia, Traveloka, Shopee and Zalora.
Customers will also get a daily mystery gift, which ranges from free flights via AirAsia to Internet passes.
Navin assured that the rewards were not on a first come first served basis, so all customers stand an equal chance of getting them, though some can only be claimed a finite number of times.
The telco revealed that about half of its four million Hotlink subscribers use the app. "The app will keep customers more engaged and will also retain users with Hotlink," he said.
Hotlink also appears to be consolidating its rewards programmes, as its website states that the "Top up rewards" and "Hotlink Birthday Gift" programmes will be discontinued as of Oct 31.
As Hotlink's parent company Maxis Bhd has its own rewards programme, there are no plans to roll out this offer to its postpaid customers for now.
