Niantic will be ending support for Pokémon Go on Apple devices using iOS 9, from Nov 12.

Augmented reality monster catching game Pokémon Go is ending support for older Apple devices still running on iOS 9.

Niantic warns that devices on iOS 9 – which was introduced in 2015 – will no longer be able to access Pokémon Go after Nov 12.

“By removing support for iOS 9, we are able to streamline our development process and focus resources on supporting newer operating systems and technologies,” explains Niantic.

It adds that a vast majority of Apple users have migrated to iOS 10 and above.

“As players migrate from older operating system versions to newer ones, we periodically update our supported device requirements to focus on the devices our player base use,” it says.

Android users and Apple users on iOS 10 or above will not be affected by this change.
