The white semicircle above the character will also tell you more about its potential strength. Moreover, there are so-called Individual Values (IV) for attack, defence and endurance. The appraisal tool of the app will also give you a rough estimate.

But there are also various online calculators, such as the one at gameinfo.io, where you can learn how close your Pokemon are to their optimum range.

You'll only have to provide the name of the Pokemon and various values like the CP. The app will then give you the potential of Eevee, Magikarp and other pocket monsters as a percentage – the higher the value, the more powerful the Pokemon. Sites like TheSilphRoad.com also offer their own IV calculators.

Beware of apps designed to automatically check the captured Pokemon, though. They usually violate the terms of use of the game and may result in the user being suspended. – dpa
