The latest version of the WhatsApp messenger service now requires an iOS 8 operating system or later on Apple devices.
According to an updated support document, users of the iPhone 4 and older devices will no longer be able to reinstall WhatsApp or receive updates. The latest running version (2.18.81) will also not allow you to create a new account.
