Firefox's mobile browser Klar is known for its focus on maximizing privacy. But it also offers various means to block ads and prevent websites from tracking you, which maker Mozilla also says speeds up browsing.

Perhaps its best-known feature is the ability to immediately delete all browser history and content with a single tap of the screen.

The latest update of the browser has added an additional layer of security to active sessions on iOS devices using Touch ID or Face ID.

If a user switches to a website that was already open in the app, Firefox Klar will now check whether the user is authorized, preventing someone from stealing an unlocked phone and accessing an open online banking session, for example.

The browser can now also be used to search within web pages and to switch to the desktop version of a website. The latter two features are available for both Android and iOS. — dpa
