Telekom Malaysia’s official Unifi Twitter account revealed that customers can look forward to a 10x increase in speed for its Unifi Turbo plans.
'Hi there! Just to clarify, the unifi turbo plans will have a 10X increase in broadband speeds at no additional cost to existing home and business customers," tweeted Unifi, in an interaction with a customer over Twitter.
Though Lowyat.net noted similar comments on Unifi's Facebook page, the posts have since been removed.
Acting group CEO Datuk Bazlan Osman on Tuesday announced Unifi Turbo plans would more than double the speed of current packages and at no extra cost to customers.
However, he did not specify how much faster the packages would be.
Currently, it offers plans such as the Unifi Lite 10Mbps, Advance 30Mbps and Pro 100Mbps plans. A 10x increase will see a huge bump in speed – for instance, the Pro 100Mbps will become a whopping 1Gbps plan if the tweet is correct.
When contacted, Unifi's communication department said "all will be unveiled" on July 12.
So far, TM has only confirmed its entry-level Unifi package @ 30Mbps will see big price drop – the price will be slashed to below RM100 from RM199.
Pre-booking for the package starts from July 15, while the Unifi Turbo plans will be rolled out starting Aug 15 for existing customers while new subscribers that sign up before Dec 31 will have their lines upgraded next year.
For smartphone users, TM is also relaunching its Unifi Mobile postpaid plan, which will offer customers unlimited data, calls and messaging, starting July 15.
