While iTunes and the iOS Podcast app are still among the main ports of call for podcast listeners on Apple devices, there’s no one single app that dominates the Android universe.

But far out ahead with more than five million users is the free app Podcast Addict, which offers similar features to its iOS counterpart, albeit financed by in-app advertising.

It also comes with a wide range of configuration settings, like the ability to set certain download times, create playlists or individual settings for every feed. To save space you can also tell it to save podcast episodes to the SD card.

Podcast Addict can also be used to play locally saved audio content, meaning you can import an audio book as a folder of tracks. — dpa
