The latest Nokia 8 is targeted at content creators who use social media as their creative platforms. At the launch in Putrajaya, HMD global country manager (Malaysia and Myanmar) Vijay Thangavelu said that the latest flagship smartphone is a tool that encourages more original user-generated content.
“The millennials are always finding ways to create content in multiple, unique ways. Be it on YouTube or Facebook, they are being as creative as they can be,” he said.
The Nokia 8 introduces its Dual-Sight video capability that allows users to livestream directly to social media accounts such as Facebook and YouTube. Vijay hinted that it will include Instagram in the list soon.
Dual-Sight simultaneously captures feeds from front and rear cameras in a split screen for photos and videos.
“Now, the viewers can see what is going on in front of the smartphone as well as behind it,” Vijay said.
It has a dual-lens 13-megapixel colour and 13-megapixel monochrome rear camera, as well as a 13-megapixel rear camera.
The Nokia 8 is powered by Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, and runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1. It has a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory which can be expanded to up to 256GB with external MicroSD slot.
The 5.3in WQHD screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and the Nokia 8 is splashproof with an IP54 certification.
It has a 3,090mAh battery that is supported by Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, and can reportedly deliver 11 hours of 4K video playback on a single charge. The Nokia OZO Audio combines three microphones to bring 360º spatial surround sound.Priced at RM2,299 the Nokia 8 comes in Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel.
