Samsung introduces new trio of curved gaming monitors

The C49HG90 monitor has a 49in display that can be divided into two full HD screens with a resolution of 3,480 x 1,080 pixels.

Samsung is launching three new curved gaming monitors that are sure to whet the appetite of PC gamers.

The curved displays feature Samsung's quantum dot technology, as well as high-dynamic-range (HDR) imaging. According to the manufacturer, quantum dot LEDs cover approximately 125% of the sRGB colour space and 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space.

A refresh rate of 144Hz and a pixel response time of one millisecond are supposed to eliminate lags, even in fast-moving games.

The C49HG90 monitor has a 49in screen with a size ratio of 32:9. The display can be divided into two full HD screens with a resolution of 3,480 x 1,080 pixels.

The smaller CHG70 monitor is available in a 32in and a 27in version, both with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.

All three screen models come equipped with AMD FreeSync 2 technology to avoid screen tearing. They also include one display port and two HDMI ports, while the C49HG90 also has a mini-display port.

According to Samsung, the new monitors will be released in the third quarter of 2017. The company has cited prices of around €1,500 (RM7,165) for the 49in, as well as €800/RM3,820 (32in) and €700/RM3,340 (27in). — dpa
