Dremel presets new-gen 3D printer, boosts build volume and precision

Makers' tool: The Idea Builder 3D40 creates objects by building them layer by layer from melted plastic filament.

The manufacturer Dremel has unveiled a new-generation 3D printer that's Wi-Fi compatible and comes with a host of pre-loaded models. It's due to roll out over the next few months, and can be pre-ordered for US$1,299 (RM5,295).

The Idea Builder 3D40 is a 3D printer that creates objects by building them layer by layer from melted plastic filament. The device has a 3.5in colour touch screen for managing print settings and comes with WiFi connectivity so print jobs can be launched remotely. The new-gen version has also seen its build volume increased (254x152x171mm) for making even larger objects.
