As a result of the backlash on social media which started on the Lowyat.net forum, Maxis has just introduced new revised data quotas for its MaxisOne customers.
In a live stream that happened earlier today, Maxis CEO Morten Lundal announced that the company will introduce revised plans for its MaxisOne customers by the end of the month.
According to Dushyanthan Vaithiyanathan, Maxis head of consumer business, who joined Lundal for the live stream, MaxisOne plan customers will automatically be upgraded to higher data quotas by the end of April.
While Dushyanthan did not give a detailed breakdown of the various revised data quotas, he did state that the current 1GB plan will be upgraded to 5GB, while the 3GB plan will now have 8GB of data quota.
However, we have obtained a link for the new revised data plans here which shows the new data quotas:
Apparently, MaxisOne Business customers will also benefit with revised data upgrades.
Until the new revised data rates come into effect at the end of the month, however, Maxis is offering its MaxisOne customers an extra one-time 3GB for free starting next week, until the revised data plans come into effect.
The saga started when a Maxis customer complained on the Lowyat.net forum that a friend of his had gotten a more attractive offer from Maxis when that friend tried to port out to another telco.
The customer, who has apparently been a subscriber to Maxis for almost 10 years, contacted the telco’s customer support to enquire about the offer but was told that the offer did not exist.
When the particulars of the incident was posted on the forum and subsequently on social media, many longtime Maxis subscribers felt betrayed by the telco for offering cheaper, unlisted data plans to customers threatening to port out instead of rewarding its customers who have opted to stay with the telco for years.
Also, do note that the free data offer is only for MaxisOne plans.Already a subscriber? Log in
