Fans of Google Nexus smartphones will not have to wait long for the latest model to hit our shores as the launch date for the Nexus 6P has been revealed – Dec 8.

This time around Google has chosen Huawei for the Nexus 6P and LG for the Nexus 5X as its manufacturing partners. Note: LG has yet to announce any info on the launch of the Nexus 5X.

The higher-end Nexus 6P, the successor to the Nexus 6 by Motorola, has a smaller 5.7in Amoled display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 518ppi (pixels per inch).

The Nexus 6P will run on Google’s latest OS – Android 6.0 aka Marshmallow – and has an all-metal body build with a black band on the back.

The rear camera is 12.3 megapixels with f/2.0 and laser autofocus, and is capable of shooting 4K videos. The front-facing camera is 8 megapixels.

It’s powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM and has a non-removable 3,450mAh battery.

We have yet to receive confirmation on the internal storage size or colours that will be available here. Globally, Huawei has made the Nexus 6P in three sizes (32GB, 64GB and 128GB) and three colours (Aluminium, Graphite, Frost).

The 6P will also see Google finally embracing built-in fingerprint sensor and the next-generation USB Type-C connector at the bottom. USB Type-C is like Apple’s Lightning cable in that it’s reversible.

As it’s a flagship device, expect it to cost more than RM2,500, especially for models with more storage.
