iPhone sales fuel Apple profit boost


Ringing up profits: A machine counting money as a customer buys two Apple iPhone 6s units at an Apple Store in Beijing. The iPhone was the key driver for Apple, bringing in more than 60% of its revenues for the past quarter, with 5.7 million Macs sold contributing to Apple's bottomline in the same quarter.

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple said that surging iPhone sales helped propel a sharp rise in quarterly profits, as the tech giant delivered a record 48 million of the smartphones. 

Profits rose 31% to US$11.1bil (RM47.51bil), while revenues jumped 22% from a year ago to US$51.5bil (RM220.47bil), Apple said.
