Canon USA has released an official service advisory regarding spot issues in the recently launched EOS 750D and 760D DSLRs.
The issue, first reported by Lensrentals.com here (a company that rents out camera equipment), showed that certain shipments of the Rebel T6i and T6s (as the EOS 750D and 760D are known in the United States) had visible spots underneath the protective glass that covers the image sensor.
These spots are visible when looking at the sensor with light coming in from an angle, and are also visible in photos when shooting images with plain colours (like the sky) using a small aperture.
The service advisory lists certain serial numbers that are more likely to exhibit the issue, although not all cameras with those serial numbers are affected.
No official word from Canon Malaysia as yet on whether EOS 750D and 760D cameras shipped to Malaysia are affected by the issue.
Update: Canon Malaysia has officially released a Malaysian service advisory for the Canon EOS 750D and 760D regarding the sensor spot issue.
In the advisory the company lists a range of serial numbers for 750D and 760D models which start with "01" and "02" which may exhibit the problem.
However, consumers with EOS 750D and 760D cameras with a dot marking on the battery cover have already been inspected and certified to be free from that defect.
Canon Malaysia advises consumers with the serial numbers as listed to send their cameras to the nearest Canon Service Centre to be inspected and repaired free of charge if necessary.
