Two-in-one: Acer launched a notebook and opened a new concept store at an event in Kuala Lumpur..

Malaysians can now get their hands on the Acer Aspire Switch 10E which was just announced in New York last week.

The device, which has a 10.1in display, 2GB RAM and Intel Atom Z3735F 1.33GHz quad-core processor, functions as both laptop and tablet.

Other notable features include front and rear 2-megapixel cameras and dual front-facing stereo speakers.

As users spend long hours with their devices, eye strain is a common problem – Acer has taken this into account and claims that its Bluelight Shield technology will help reduce blue-light emission to protect users’ eyes.

Acer has also improved the battery life so that the Switch 10E lasts up to 12 hours, an additional four hours compared with last year’s model.

According to Microsoft Malaysia chief marketing and operations officer Rukmani Subramaniam, the Acer which is running Windows 8.1 will be upgraded to Windows 10 for free when it becomes available later this year.

The Switch 10E is available in two storage options – 32GB and 64GB. However, only the keyboard that comes with the 32GB version has 500GB hard drive.

The 32GB model retails for RM1,399 while the 64GB goes for RM1,099.

Consumers can choose from five different colours – Moonstone White, Shark Grey, Peacock Blue, Magenta Pink and Coral Red – with textile patterns.

The event also saw Acer opening its latest concept store at Quill City Mall. The 1,195sqft store which showcases Acer’s products such as laptops, tablets, PCs and accessories, will be managed by Brightstar.

The company now has 10 concept stores in total, and plans to open two more in Mid Valley Megamall and The Mines.
