IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: Hyung-Jin Shin, a graduate student who has worked with Samsung to develop the Eyecan+, demonstrates how the new eye mouse contols a laptop with eye movement.

The South Korean company has developed a mouse specifically for people with disabilities that will help them use their PCs simply by moving their eyes or blinking.

On many smart devices, eye-tracking technology is little more than a gimmick. Amazon's Fire smartphone is a case in point. Its plethora of lenses are focused on the user's face so that they can constantly distort the handset's display to give the illusion of 3D.
