A slick, driverless train design has been unveiled as the future of the London Underground.

Designed by Priestman Goode for Transport for London, 250 of the trains will come into service from 2022.

Featuring sleek interiors, air conditioning, walk-through carriages and wider doors for easier access, the tube design respects the London underground's aesthetics whilst incorporating modern technology.

"These beautiful, air-cooled machines represent the best of British design and innovation," said the mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

"London's Tube is one of the most iconic trains around the world," said Paul Priestman, designer and co-founding director of PriestmanGoode.

"We are proud to have designed something that is part of the very fabric of London life, celebrating all that's great about London's environment; cutting edge technology, rich history and diversity."
