The Idol Alpha (left) and X+ are the latest additions to the OneTouch family.

Alcatel has expanded its OneTouch line of Android smartphones with two new models — the Idol X+ and Alpha.

The company has positioned the Idol X+ as its new flagship model, and it’s not surprising to see why. Packed in its 7.9mm thin body is a powerful octa-core 2GHz Cortex-A7 processor with 2GB RAM, making it one of the more powerful Android smartphones on the market.

The new processor is not all about speed, as it also increases battery life by reducing power consumption by 18%, the company claims.

It also has a 5in Full HD screen with a pixel density of 441ppi (pixel per inch), a 13.1-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera. Both cameras can also record videos in Full HD.

For now, only the 16GB model will be available but there are plans to bring in the 32GB version later.

The Idol Alpha, on the other hand, has an eye-catching 7.5mm thin aluminium body with translucent edges. It has a 4.7in display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It also has 16GB of internal memory.

Both models run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The Idol X+ and Alpha retail for RM1,299 and RM1,099, respectively, according to local distributor Ten Ten Telecommunications.
