US consumers embrace video-streaming services

Services like Netflix and Amazon Prime now account for 71% of all digital video transactions and their popularity is continuing to grow. 

But as these services find a wider audience, it is to the detriment of premium TV channels. Channels like HBO and Showtime have seen subscriber numbers drop by 6% over the past year as sign-ups to streaming video on demand (SVOD) services have risen by 4%.
