ORACLE is offering a powerful new database that is optimised for cloud computing and Big Data aimed at helping enterprises cut costs through consolidation and simplified management.
The Oracle Database 12c boasts the latest architecture that allows customers to consolidate many databases into a single multitenant container database in the cloud that is five times more scalable than traditional databases.
12c ships with more than 500 new features to meet today’s information-intensive environments including enhancements to help customers leverage on emerging opportunities in Big Data and business analytics.
According to Oracle Asean enterprise technology senior director Kaleem Chaudhry, the innovations in the solution were developed with its customers’ cloud requirements very much in mind.
The multitenant architecture enables customers to simply plug in and consolidate their existing databases to a shared container database without application change and securely manage them as one.
“This will help administrators patch, upgrade and back up their databases more easily,” Chaudhry said.
It also allows for simplified data recovery.
Previously, enterprises needed to create individual data recovery for each of their database now, with a single container they only need to do it once, he said.
To help address existing and emerging security and compliance requirements, the solution incorporated with defense in depth, multi-layered security capabilities that include conditional auditing, data redaction, transparent data encryption, privilege analysis, privileged user controls, command controls as well as support for application users, roles and privileges for maximum protection.
