PETALING JAYA: Seagate has launched what it claims is the world’s first 3TB external desktop drive.

The 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk external hard drive has a USB 2.0 interface but can be upgraded to a USB 3.0 or Firewire 800 connection via an optional GoFlex desktop adapter.

The external hard drive works with both Macs and PCs and comes with a built-in driver for the Mac OS to support the NTFS file system.

The 3TB GoFlex Desk external drive with the USB 2.0 adapter has a recommended retail price of RM998.
