TM, Sony hold Merdeka photo-contest

PETALING JAYA: In celebration of Malaysia’s upcoming 53rd anniversary of Merdeka, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) in collaboration with Sony Malaysia is inviting Malaysians to capture and immortalise the essence of the Merdeka and 1Malaysia spirit through a photo contest.

Utilising the Merdeka celebrations as a catalyst, the contest which runs until Sept 9, is aimed at helping to build a greater sense of awareness around the meaning of the Merdeka celebration and the 1Malaysia concept.

Rozalila Abdul Rahman, chief marketing officer at TM, said: “Photographs, evoke feelings, and tell stories. A good photograph stirs up emotions.

“Through this contest, we hope to awaken the 1Malaysia spirit of the people through the power of photography.”

Those who are interested to participate need to buy an iTalk prepaid calling card (minimum RM10 in value) which will enable them to submit their photos on the contest website,

Each RM10 iTalk prepaid calling card entitles a contestant to one contest-entry submission; i.e. RM10 = one entry, RM20 = two entries, and so forth.

Participants need to complete the entry form with their personal details and the iTalk card’s 12 digit number BEFORE they proceed to upload their pictures. The images must be less than 500KB each and in jpeg format.

Participants are invited to upload as many pictures as they like, based on the value of the iTalk cards they purchase.

Upon submission, the photos will first be evaluated by contest administrators. If the photo qualifies, it will be published in the Photo Gallery section of the website within three working days of submission.

Each submission should include the following elements in the photos; (i) TM logo or product, (ii) Sony logo or product, and (iii) the Malaysian flag.

Winners will be selected based on the most creative photo that combines the three elements and highlights the spirit of Merdeka and 1Malaysia.

The winning photo chosen by TM and Sony appointed judges will be in the running to win the Grand Prize of a Sony Digital SLR camera.

Four other selected photos will win a Sony Cyber Shot digital camera each.
