CANON Marketing Malaysia has just introduced the Digital Ixus 300 HS, a 10-megapixel camera that promises better low-light performance and a super slow-motion video mode.
The 3.8x zoom lens of the Ixus 300 HS is equivalent to a 28-105mm lens on 35mm but the big feature is the large aperture of f/2.0, which allows more light to hit the sensor — this in turn means that faster shutter speeds can be used when shooting in low light situations.
The lens isn’t the only innovation of the camera however — it has a newly-developed 10-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, which works together with the Digic 4 imaging processor to produce lower noise even at high ISO settings.
Apart from better low-light images, the Ixus 300 HS can also shoot a very fast 8.4 frames per second (fps) burst of continuous shots which means that you can shoot a whole series of action shots — great for capturing sports events, for example.
In video mode, the camera can shoot a whopping 240 frames per second which, when played back at the usual 30fps of video, results in a super slow motion mode.
Apart from the features with the wow-factor, the Ixus 300 HS offers all the usual shooting modes including aperture priority and shutter priority.
The Digital Ixus 300 HS is compatible with the latest SDXC memory card format and has a recommended retail price of RM1,499.
