Samsung Malaysia has introduced its new line of LCD monitors, all of which feature LED backlighting.

Apart from LED backlighting, the Samsung 20-, 40-, 50- and 70-series monitors offers different features depending on the intended market.

Samsung claims that the new monitors are more eco-friendly as they feature about a 40% reduction in power consumption compared with CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) backlighting in older monitors.

The top of the line model is the 23in PX2370 (part of the 70-series) which is able to display 100% of the sRGB colour gamut.

This should please photographers and graphics artists who require a very accurate colour display for photo and video editing.

The PX2370 also features Magic Lux, Samsung’s technology which uses a sensor to detect ambient light levels and adjust the brightness of the screen to maintain optimal brightness levels.

Other notable features are a 2ms response time, 1080p (1,920 x 1,080-pixels) resolution, analogue RGB, DVI and HDMI inputs.

The PX2370 has a recommended retail price of RM1,099, while the prices for the other models have yet to be confirmed at press time.
