PETALING JAYA: The One Academy of Communication Design has tied up with French computer gamemaker Ubisoft Entertainment to set up an incubation centre at the art school’s campus in Bandar Sunway here.

From this joint effort, One Academy will increase its ability to produce more computer graphics artists, especially for the game industry. Many of its graduates are working as experts in the field of movie animation.

Olivier de Rotalier, Ubisoft Singapore manager director, is interviewing potential One Academy students for an apprenticeship programme at the Ubisoft incubation centre.

No further details are available at this time.

The global computer games industry is worth US$780bil (RM2.65 trillion) and needs 13,000 new creative talents with specialised skills on the local front, said the One Academy.

Ubisoft produced the popular Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed II games for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. Other titles in its stable are Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Just Dance, and Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic.
