UoC nursing students train in a simulated environment resembling a real hospital setting to strengthen practical skills.
AS Malaysia faces a growing demand for skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals, the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) is strengthening its nursing education programmes.
By offering full scholarships for both Diploma and Bachelor of Nursing, the university hopes to make the profession more accessible, particularly for students from underserved backgrounds.
This initiative is part of UoC’s wider mission to cultivate high-quality graduates who are both academically capable and socially responsible.
Available exclusively to eligible Malaysian students, the scholarship covers full tuition fees, accommodation, uniform allowance and a monthly living allowance of up to RM1,000.
Importantly, recipients are also guaranteed job placement at the university’s network of partner hospitals after graduation, helping graduates move smoothly into the workforce.
Students with just three credits in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) may apply for the Diploma in Nursing, creating opportunities for school leavers who are passionate about healthcare but may not have met traditional academic requirements.
With structured clinical training and academic support, UoC positions its students for a stable career in the healthcare sector.
Community-focused learning
Beyond the classroom, UoC’s Faculty of Nursing emphasises empathy, communication and civic responsibility, key attributes in the nursing profession.
Among the recent highlights is ‘Ribbon Rave: A Wave of Hope’, a cancer awareness programme offering free health screenings and interactive learning through virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology.
The event was run in collaboration with the Removing Obstacles to cervical ScrEening (ROSE Foundation, which promotes accessible cervical cancer screening), the Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA, a non-profit supporting cancer patients and research), the Colorectal Cancer Survivorship Society Malaysia (Corum, which advocates for colorectal cancer awareness and patient support) and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA, which provides education, counselling and peer support for breast cancer patients and survivors).
UoC nursing students played an integral role in running the event, gaining practical skills while contributing meaningfully to society.
The university also marked Nurses’ Day 2025 on campus, celebrating the contributions of nurses and inspiring the next generation of leaders in the field.
Partnerships that build careers
UoC’s nursing education is further strengthened through key partnerships with leading healthcare providers.
Among them is the SunMed Scholarship Programme, launched in partnership with Sunway Healthcare Group and Cyberjaya College Kota Kinabalu.
The programme offers full sponsorship worth over RM100,000, along with guaranteed employment at Sunway Medical Centre, empowering future nurses with quality training and a secured career path.
It also expands opportunities for students from East Malaysia, especially Sabah.
The university also maintains ties with clinical partners including Prince Court Medical Centre, Gleneagles Hospitals, Pantai Hospitals, Island Hospital and a wide network of public and private hospitals nationwide.
These partnerships ensure that students graduate with diverse clinical experience and strong employment prospects.
