America Degree Transfer Program
Sunway University’s School of American Education (SAE) offers local students the opportunity to pursue an American education via the American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP).
ADTP, meticulously designed to mirror the American education system, provides a seamless pathway for students to complete the initial years of their undergraduate degree at Sunway University before transferring to renowned universities in the US to finish their degree.
This allows students to experience the best of both worlds, with a solid academic foundation in Malaysia and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the diverse and dynamic environment of an American university.
With over 1,000 majors available for students, ADTP encapsulates various fields, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), art, business and social sciences.
These include degree programmes in Actuarial Science, Business, Communication, Computer Science, Contemporary Music Using Audio Technology, Digital Film and Production, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Music Performance, Natural Sciences, Forensic Science and Psychology.
Students who are undecided after Year 11 can also join the programme and explore the degrees that may best suit them.
ADTP also offers over 100 freshman and sophomore-level courses, developed in consultation with American universities, to ensure students transfer seamlessly to the US to complete their studies.
In addition, ADTP’s flexible credit transfer system allows students to customise their education pathway, with 1+3 and 2+2 years of transfer arrangements and over 2,000 universities to choose from for transfer.
Sunway University students have successfully transferred credit to highly ranked universities in the US, such as Cornell University, New York University, University of Michigan, Boston University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Wisconsin, Purdue University and more.

International collaboration
To further facilitate students in their pursuit of an American degree, Sunway University’s SAE has recently announced a landmark collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU) to provide students with an enriched American education experience in Malaysia.
ASU has been recognised as the most innovative university in the US for nine consecutive years (US News and World Report, 2016-2024). ASU is also ranked among the top 1% of universities worldwide, according to the Center for World University Rankings 2023. It brings its esteemed reputation and expertise to Sunway University, offering students access to American degree programmes in highly employable fields.
This partnership introduces various innovative features to ADTP via SAE, enhancing a student’s academic journey with seamless credit transfers, a high-quality curriculum and international networks.
Sunway University students will have access to a more robust American learning experience, which includes global signature courses, research collaborations and international exchanges, preparing them for successful global careers.

Moving forward, SAE aims to introduce complete degree programmes with ASU, allowing students to transfer to the ASU campus in the US or continue their studies entirely in Malaysia via ASU Online. Additionally, students have the flexibility to complete approximately 60 credits at Sunway University before transferring overseas, while some can also opt for additional courses.
