Eain Yow sails past Malik into British Open third round, but world No. 1 Mostafa awaits

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ng Eain Yow booked his spot in the British Open third round after beating England’s Curtis Malik in straight games on Sunday (May 31).

World No. 20 Eain Yow won 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 in 47 minutes against world No. 26 Malik in Birmingham, marking his fifth win in six meetings against the English player.

Eain Yow, who received a first-round bye, faces a tough challenge as he takes on top seed and reigning world champion Mostafa Asal of Egypt for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Malaysian has defeated world No. 1 Mostafa only once in four encounters.

Mostafa, who defended his World Championship title in Giza last month, defeated Hong Kong’s Alex Lau 11-5, 11-4, 11-5 in the second round.
