Sivasangari reaches Cincinnati Gaynor Cup semi-finals

PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari advanced to the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup semi-finals by defeating England’s Torrie Malik on Friday (Feb 7).

World No. 10 Sivasangari faced little resistance, winning 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 against the No. 51 player in the quarter-finals in Ohio.

The third seed Sivasangari is set to face top seed Olivia Weaver in the semi-finals, after the American player defeated Rachel Arnold in the quarter-finals.

World No. 19 Rachel was unable to overcome Weaver, losing the match 5-11, 5-11, 3-11.

Rachel has now lost all three encounters with Weaver, including their previous meeting at the Gaynor Cup in 2022.

Sivasangari faces a tough challenge against Weaver in the semi-finals, having never won in their five previous matches.
