For the first time, a fitness test between Malaysian junior squash players and their English counterparts will be conducted via Zoom.
Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia director S. Maniam said that it is the idea of private firm Bounx, who successfully conducted two fitness tests on 32 national players last month.
“It will be interesting to see the fitness level of our juniors against the English players.
“We must thank Bounx for coming up with the idea. The tests will be conducted at 4pm on June 13,” said Maniam.
A total of eight players, two boys and two girls from the Under-15 and Under-17 categories from each country will be involved in the test.
Maniam said that two players would take on each other by doing five exercises – push-ups, sit ups, burpees, squats and star jumps.
“The player who does more exercises in a stipulated time frame, will be the winner.
“We will name our players next week.”
Meanwhile, Maniam added that they are keeping their fingers crossed that the players would be allowed to start training after the movement control order (MCO) ends on June 9.
“They badly need to get on court as they have only been training at home since the MCO started (March 18).
“We will request the National Sports Council to look into the matter and we will adhere to all the SOP (standard operating procedures) for training on courts,” said Maniam.
