Games record, but silver for Malaysia women’s 50m rifle three positions team


BANGKOK: The Malaysian women's rifle team bagged the silver medal in the 50m rifle three positions at the Thailand Sports Authority Shooting Range here on Wednesday (Dec 17).

The trio Gan Chen Jie, Alia Husna Budruddin and Nur Suryani Taibi scored 1,717 points during the qualifiers, sharing points with Singapore, who took gold after countback.

The score is also a national record, shattering the mark of 1,700 set by Chen Jie, Aina Zahara Baharum and Tan Yee Xuan for Negri Sembilan in the 2024 Tun Hanif Trophy.

The 1,717 points are also the new SEA Games record.

Bronze fell to Thailand, who scored 1,716.

Chen Jie and Alia have qualified for the final of the event as Chen Jie finished third with 578 points, while Alia was seventh with 573 points.

Suryani was out of the final contention after finishing 13th with 566 points.
