PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s hope of avoiding Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals of the Malaysian leg of the ARFU Asian Rugby Sevens Series came to naught when they fell to South Korea 33-5 in a Group D match at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya.

The home side beat United Arab Emirates (UAE) 29-7, but fell apart against South Korea as tries from Jeong Yeon-sik (three), Kim Nam-uk (one) and Han Kun-kyu (one) condemned Malaysia to second place. Malaysia’s solitary try was scored by naturalised Fijian Eto Vaqa Saukuru.
