Injured Aznil still part of Malaysia’s gold medal hopes

Race against time: Aznil Bidin is pushing for full fitness as he aims to defend his gold medal in a new weight category.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s weightlifting squad are keeping their sights on three gold medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games from July 23-Aug 4 even with two-time champion Aznil Bidin still recovering from a shoulder injury.

Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) president Datuk Ayub Rahmat believes the squad have enough depth to deliver, based on the lifters’ performances at their training camp in Turkiye.
