Change in weight category proves costly for Bonnie


Right thing to do: Bonnie Bunyau Gustin said moving up to a heavier category at the start of the year was necessary as he had been putting on weight as he grew older.

PETALING JAYA: There was no big joy for Paralympic powerlifting champion Bonnie Bunyau Gustin as he settled for silver in the Asia-Oceania Open Champion­ship in Bangkok.

Bonnie, who tied the knot in December, was competing in his first international competition for this year and made the bold move to switch to a heavier weight category.
