Syed Saddiq powers through Ironman Malaysia to beat 13-hour target

LANGKAWI: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman crossed the finish line of the grueling Ironman Malaysia in an impressive 12 hours, 22 minutes, and 18 seconds - well ahead of the 13-hour target set by fashion brand Primavalet.

Primavalet had earlier pledged to donate RM1mil to welfare initiatives in Syed Saddiq’s constituency if he completed the full Ironman triathlon in under 13 hours.

"I came here with one goal - to secure RM1mil in welfare support for my people," said Syed Saddiq after the race.

"Alhamdulillah, while I managed a sub-13-hour finish, now PrimaValet must fulfil their promise — RM1mil for me, laptops, food banks, and Hari Raya clothes."

He added that he would do “whatever it takes” to ensure the well-being of his constituents are taken care of.

The 32-year-old MP completed the 3.8km swim, 180km cycle, and 42.2km run in scorching Langkawi heat and at the finish line, he immediately embraced his parents.
