Time’s right: R. Sharmendran (right) had been contemplating retirement for some time as he recovers from the Anterior Cruciate Ligament surgery.

PETALING JAYA: Four-time SEA Games karate champion R. Sharmendran is ready to embark on a new career path and believes he still has plenty to offer in the sport despite hanging up his robe.

The Malaysian Karate Federation (Makaf) have offered Sharmendran a coaching role in the national development karate team next month along with his senior and former Asian champion Mohd Hatta Mahamut.
