Hakim wants to remain in Moto3 for now and end season with best results

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s top rider Hakim Danish Ramli (pic) wants to remain in the Moto3 class for at least another season because he believes there is still a lot of knowledge to be gained before stepping onto the Moto2 stage.

Although his name is currently linked to efforts to secure a move to Moto2 next season, Hakim said his main focus at the moment is to end the season with the best results while leaving all matters related to the contract to Zulfahmi Khairuddin as the manager of SIC Racing.

“If possible, I want to stay for another season in Moto3.

“Whatever the decision, I leave it to Abang Fahmi (Zulfahmi) because he will decide on that matter.

“I still want to gain more experience in Moto3.

“If I move up to Moto2, the challenge is bigger with more powerful, heavier machinery and the competition is also fiercer.

“I think there is still a lot to learn from the aspects of motorcycle control, racing methods and how to be more competitive.”

The 18-year-old rider also refused to comment on speculation about the team he will join next season because his focus is on the remaining races this season.

Hakim also thanked RCB for providing a lot of support through sponsorship in helping him undergo training sessions in Europe.

“Apart from the support equipment provided for me to train in Europe, RCB took great care of my welfare and I was also given an incentive of RM6,000, which was channelled into the Amanah Saham Bumiputera bonds.”

Hakim has been impressive in his rookie season, claiming his maiden win in the Czech Republic and another third place podium in Italy so far.
