PETALING JAYA: Rider Hakim Danish Ramli is determined to come back stronger after enduring a frustrating weekend at the Sachsenring, where he fought through a series of setbacks to secure valuable points in his Moto3 World Championship campaign.
Besides dodging several crashes at the Grand Prix of Germany, Hakim encountered a string of issues on his bike, but still managed to collect four points by finishing in 12th place on Sunday.
Hakim admitted that he faced rear grip issues alongside vibration issues in the front-end during the 23-lap race, which proved costly for his pace.
"It was a very challenging weekend for me because in every session I struggled with the bike due to vibration issues when I entered the corners," said Hakim.
"But the team worked hard to find a solution throughout the weekend. We used a soft tyre during qualifying, which helped me set a competitive lap, but it still wasn’t the pace we had hoped for."
Hakim qualified in third place, but slowly fell down the order as the race went on as he struggled to get comfortable on the bike at the difficult racetrack.
"I tried to stay with the front group and fight. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a good feeling with the rear tyre grip.
"Every time I opened the throttle, the bike was close to a high-side, which meant I couldn’t match the pace of the riders ahead.
"It’s a lesson for me to keep working and push harder for the next round," said the Terengganu-born rider.
Hakim currently sits in sixth place with 86 points, and will be aiming to close the gap to the leading pack when the championship returns from its summer break at the Grand Prix of Great Britain on Aug 9.
The race in Germany was won by Spain's Brian Uriarte, while compatriot Maximo Quiles came in second, followed by Italy’s Matteo Bertelle in third.
