PETALING JAYA: Malaysian rider Hakim Danish Ramli (pic) faces a tough challenge at the Sachsenring in Germany but he’s aiming for a confident showing before the Moto3 World Championship takes its summer break.
The Grand Prix of Germany this weekend will present one of the toughest races for the 18-year-old Hakim due to its unique layout, featuring a succession of left-hand corners and a narrow track.
Although Hakim’s past outing at the track last year in the Red Bull Rookies Cup saw him finish well outside the podium places, his strong performance this year in his maiden Moto3 campaign sparks confidence.
“I’m looking forward to this race because it’s the final one before the summer break.
“Sachsenring isn’t an easy circuit.
“It’s more like a karting circuit than a conventional race track but I’ll do my best to adapt quickly and deliver the best result I can,” said the Aeon Credit MT Helmets MSi rider.
Hakim is currently sixth in the Moto3 World Championship standings with 82 points following his historic victory at the Grand Prix of Czechia and a strong nine-point haul at the Dutch Grand Prix last month.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Racing team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin will be alongside Hakim this weekend in Germany, and he hopes Hakim can improve on his previous outing at the track.
“Looking back at his performances here last year, Hakim didn’t achieve the results we had hoped for, so I’m hoping he’ll be able to adapt to the circuit much more quickly this time,” he said.
After the summer break, the championship will resume at the Grand Prix of Great Britain on Aug 9.
