SEPANG: Spain’s Alex Marquez put on a dominant performance at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia to clinch his third victory of the 2025 season at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on Sunday (Oct 26).

The Gresini rider crossed the line with a time of 40:09.249s, two seconds ahead of compatriot Pedro Acosta, while Joan Mir rounded off the podium in third place.

Starting the race in second place, Marquez made his move early, taking the lead in the second lap from pole sitter Bagnaia during a sweeping corner, which he held onto until the finish line.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia continued his pursuit but had to shift his focus to defend from Acosta’s charge, who eventually made the move in the 13th lap.

Bagnaia’s luck got worse as he was forced to retire with two laps remaining due to a technical issue.

Marquez, who sealed his runner-up spot in the World Championship on Saturday, claimed his first win outside of his home country this year after winning the Spanish and Catalan Grand Prix.
