PETALING JAYA: Rider Ahmad Afif Amran got his fifth win in the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship after riding to victory in Round 7 at the Tangkak Racing Circuit yesterday.
At the start of the race, Afif was close behind Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin, who took the lead, and by lap five, the leading group of riders had built a one-second gap from the chasers.
On lap nine, Kasma continued to hold the lead but Afif was pressing hard, just two-tenths of a second behind.
Afif finally got his overtake done with two laps remaining, and he held on to it until the chequered flag.
“This victory is truly a blessing. Throughout the week we’ve seen Kasma dominate.
“But on lap three, his knee pad came loose and fell, which prevented him from maintaining a stronger pace. Maybe that was my fortune, and I’m grateful to secure another win,” said Afif.
