PETALING JAYA: Malaysia booked their semi-final berth in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey event in Chennai, India after beating Japan 3-1 on Monday (Aug 7).

Malaysia, after their 5-0 defeat to India on Sunday, needed a win and responded with an early goal from Najmi Farizal Jazlan through a penalty corner in the 12th minute.
