PETALING JAYA: World No. 2 amateur golfer Mirabel Ting (pic) secured a boost ahead of the NCAA Championship Finals in California next week after she was named the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference Coast) Golfer of the Year.
Mirabel, who recently helped Florida State University to lift their first-ever ACC Championship title, is the second player from the school to be named the ACC Golfer of the Year.
Her teammate Lottie Woad, who is the current world No. 1 amateur, was the winner last year.
Mirabel turned heads this year with five victories on the national collegiate stage.
The 19-year-old is currently the No. 1 ranked golfer in NCAA and the leader in individual wins with her five victories (Folds of Honor, Schooner Fall Classic, Collegiate Invitational, Briar’s Creek Invitational and Florida State Match Up).
“Being named the ACC Golfer of the Year means a lot to me as a player and person,” said Mirabel.
“I have worked the entire year to put myself in position to achieve this incredible honour but there is still lots of work need to be done.
“Big thanks to my coaches for their unwavering support and believing in my game and also to my teammates for being around me, cheering, supporting, and giving me positive support.
“An award like this wouldn’t have happened without my teammates. I look forward to playing with the girls and hopefully achieving more as a team,” added Mirabel.
