Khavish finishes third in Pakistan to rise to 10th in Order of Merit

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian golfer Khavish Varadan has achieved his career-best result after turning professional a year ago.

The 24-year-old posted rounds of 68-67-72-69 to finish third in the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Rumanza Open in Pakistan at the Rumanza Golf and Country Club on Saturday.

His four-day total of 12-under 276 placed him four shots behind winner Ahmad Baig of Pakistan.

Baiq claimed victory with a final-round 71, finishing three shots ahead of runner-up Michele Ortolani of Italy.

Khavish earned US$5,950 (RM26,300) and rose to 10th position on the ADT Order of Merit.

It is a significant improvement from his previous joint-41st finish at the season-opening PKNS Selangor Masters last month.

It was at the Malaysian Open last year in Kuala Lumpur in February where Khavish made his pro debut with an impressive joint 13th place finish.

The former Alabama State University student aims to secure Asian Tour promotion through its developmental tour. The ADT offers Asian Tour playing privileges to its top 10 Order of Merit finishers at the end of the season.

Fellow Malaysians Amir Nazrin Jailani and Galven Green finished tied at 21st with two-over 290 and 35th at eight-over 296 respectively.
