YAYASAN WWRC hosted another hugely successful golf tournament and dinner that marked the 10th edition of the charity event.
The tournament, which brought together golfers, sponsors, donors and stakeholders, raised an impressive RM1.5mil to support deserving organisations and shelter homes in the community.
WWRC is principally involved in the distribution of chemicals to various segments of industries like paints, adhesives, plastics, rubber gloves and polyurethane in construction, food and personal items in homecare and pharmaceuticals.
The day began with a morning round of golf at Kota Permai Golf Club in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, where players of all skill levels enjoyed friendly competition, while contributing to a worthy cause.
Following the game, participants gathered for a simple yet delicious lunch. And in the afternoon, a second session of golfers teed off.
The highlight of the event was the charity dinner, which featured auctions, a special dance performance by an all-WWRC staff team and the awards presentation.
The event was attended by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
During the event, three significant presentations were made.
One was the mock cheques to representatives from the charity organisations, witnessed by Loke, Seputeh Member of Parliament and deputy chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee Theresa Kok, Subang Jaya Assemblywoman Michelle Ng, member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for Kampung Tunku Lim Yi Wei and member of the Democratic Action Party and former Member of Parliament Tony Pua.
The organisers recognised their special donors and sponsors across four categories – silver, gold, platinum and VIP – presenting them with mementos.
And thirdly, the top golfers in both the A Medal A (h’cap 0-18) and B Medal B (19-24) were honoured, with the top three winners in each category receiving trophies. The best lady golfer of the day was also recognised.
WWRC Group chief executive officer Teoh Weng Chai acknowledged the generosity of the community coming together for a worthy cause.
“As before, the funds raised will be used to support deserving organisations and shelter homes, making a tangible difference to the lives of those in need – and the opportunity for a better future for them, their families and those around them,” he said.
