The MercedesTrophy 2022 National Final was held at Saujana Golf and Country Club.

MALAYSIA will have three players in the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in the city of Sindelfingen in Baden-Württemberg, south Germany in September.

They are Lew Pei Yew, Shamsul Fadhli Anuari and Gow Weng Suan.

Pei Yew and Shamsul booked their tickets to Europe at the MercedesTrophy 2022 national final at Saujana Golf & Country Club in Subang Jaya, Selangor. They finished as overall champion and runner-up, respectively.

Weng Suan earned his spot on the trip as the 2020 champion.

Delighted with his triumph, Pei Yew said: “It is a great and satisfying feeling to be crowned the overall winner of this prestigious tournament. Surrounded by worthy competitors, the tournament showed me that I am on the right track with my practise and training. I really look forward to this tournament every year as it attracts the top golfers nationwide.

“The Saujana course was in fantastic condition, making it a challenging yet exciting course to play. It was an honour to be a part of this tournament and now I am looking forward to playing in the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in Sindelfingen from Sept 28 to Oct 3.”

The main lucky draw at Saujana – an EPOS watch – was won by Ng Meng Sin. The tournament also offered several other exciting prizes and exclusive merchandise, with the all-new Mercedes-Benz E200 Avantgarde as the hole-in-one prize. It was not won.

This year’s competition was played over five qualifying rounds, with the top-five winners of each leg progressing to the National Final.

Speaking at the event, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s vice-president of Sales and Marketing, Michael Jopp, said: “The MercedesTrophy is a sporting event that reflects the brilliant connection between sports and lifestyle, while underlining the premier status of Mercedes-Benz.

“The combination of excellent skills and a sophisticated lifestyle has been a hallmark of the tournament as it is regarded as one of the most prestigious events on the golfing calendar, with more than 60,000 participants drawn from around the globe.

“At Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, we are proud to host the annual invitational amateur series, the MercedesTrophy.

“Together with our participating partners, this exclusive event is one of the events that our customers look forward to most participating in every year – being an invitation-only tournament for Mercedes-Benz customers who are golf enthusiasts.”

This year’s tournament was the 32nd edition of the MercedesTrophy Malaysia.
