PETALING JAYA: Malaysian rookie pro Mirabel Ting (pic) appears to have found her footing on the Epson Tour, the LPGA Tour feeder circuit, after yet another top 10 finish at the Reliance Matrix Championship in Nevada on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Sarawakian managed a closing round of one-over 73 to settle for a share of ninth spot on 15-under 273, 11 shots behind Thai winner Colcheva Wongras.
It was her highest score of the week though and it put paid to her hopes of contending for a maiden title.
Mirabel had given herself a shot at the title after producing low rounds of 67, 66 and 67 to start the final day in third spot.
The redeeming point for her was that she managed to stay consistent as it was her fourth straight top 10 finish in the Epson Tour.
Mirabel earned fourth place at the Orlando Health Championship in Florida for her best finish in the Tour.
The Sukma (Malaysian Games) gold medallist golfer went on to finish 10th in the IOA Championship last month and also the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic recently.
Mirabel, in fact, has made the cut in all six events she played on the Epson Tour so far and is ranked 15 in the Race for the Card standings.
Mirabel holds a full card on the Epson Tour as she bids to earn promotion to the LPGA Tour.
The Epson Tour awards LPGA Tour cards to the top 15 players in the season-long Race for the Card standings.
The top 10 finishers earn full LPGA membership, while those placed 11th to 15th receive conditional status.
