You get ‘a feeling’

ELITE and long-time golf coach Michael Bannon shares his thoughts on how to deal with the “unfinished” backswing and the downswing.

He says people often talk about the downswing happening before the backswing finishes and wonder what it’s all about.

“It’s hard to teach that in a technical way,” he adds. “The best way to try to get someone to attempt to emulate this move is by asking them to throw a ball or skim a stone.

They will find that before the arm reaches the top, the body will start stepping onto the left foot.

“You can even get them to take the club up to the top of the swing and ask them to throw it down a fairway – they will get the same feeling.”
