SINGAPORE: Golfer Jazz Janewattananond is the SMBC Singapore Open champion.

He is the third Thai after Thaworn Wiratchant and Prayad Marksaeng to win the coveted Asian Tour tournament.

The 23-year-old was in blistering form in the final round at the Serapong Course in the Sentosa Golf Club here, when he finished seven-under 65 to finish with 18-under 266 in the tournament.

The Thai was in smashing form in the first nine holes when he got five birdies, and the icing on the cake was cementing his status as the champion as he birdied two of his last three holes.

With only one bogey in that round, Jazz was calm and composed throughout the day and showed the world that he is the one to watch in the golfing world.

He pocketed US$180,000 (RM739,800) from the tournament and is set to rise the Asian Tour rankings with this victory.
