ON the global scene the comeback of Tiger was the dominant story of 2018. It was phenomenal for the golf industry worldwide where golf has once again captivated the audience.
Now we hope to capitalise on this and reinforce golf as an important sport in terms of participation and its health benefits and marketing value through tournament sponsorships which reach a large targeted audience.
From an Asian perspective, we are very proud of our younger players performing on the world stage.
It has been a great year for our members and alumni the likes of Shubhankar Sharma (breakout
year), Kiradech Aphibarnrat (attained his PGA Tour card)
and Gavin Green (retained European Tour card after his rookie season).
Also reaching the milestone of 30 events on the Asian Tour was a significant achievement for us.
Moving forward, we obviously look forward to another year of strong performances and ultimately see our members in contention regularly in majors and WGC events.
It has been a decade since Korea’s YE Yang broke through as Asia’s first major champion and it’s about time for another.
We are always looking at ways to improve our offering to engage new promoters and sponsors to add new events to our platform. We are developing more offerings in the digital space and giving the wider audience more golfing content.
